Saint Lucia’s largest growth in tourism has stemmed from the U.S, a growing number of flights from the UK has allowed for the island to become a popular holiday spot for vacationers.
With the world recovering from the recent financial recession many long haul destinations have noted falling numbers of visitors. Several companies flying economy and premium economy to Saint Lucia from London Gatwick, including British Airways and Virgin Atlantic, the volcanic island has become an attractive location for those wanting a Caribbean retreat. Known particularly for its diverse options in both beautiful landscapes and entertainment the island offers visitors a wealth of things to experience and explore. With a drive-in volcano, lush tropical rainforest and the World Heritage Site’s Piton Mountains those wanting to view stunning landscapes have more than enough to fulfil their desires on one such small island. Meanwhile Saint Lucia’s cultural aspect also provides tourists with bustling marketplaces, a range of resorts from luxury hotels to simplistic hostels and a coastline dotted with coves and magical fishing villages to discover.
This summer, in an attempt to entice even more tourists, Saint Lucia’s tourist board has also partnered up with a number of resorts on the island to provide the perfect family getaway. Called the “Go Bananas Summer Family Program”, those travelling until September 30th can benefit from free meals and accommodation for under 17’s depending on the resort. Meanwhile with additional discount cards, complimentary excursions such as dolphin watching and horseback riding and child friendly education days telling of myths and legends from the island, Saint Lucia may prove the perfect family holiday for summer 2010.
