What is OCI?

Hello, I have been told by some relatives I can apply for OCI card as I had indian passport before. What is it?

Hi Rishi, thank you for getting in touch with us. OCI card, which stands for Overseas Citizenship of India, is a multiple entry lifelong visa which enables the holder to have unlimited travel and stay in India.

What are the benefits? and How can i apply for it?

Benefits of applying an OCI card include: multiple entries, with multi-purpose lifelong visa being offered to visit India and exception from having to report to Police authorities for any length of stay in India.
You must fill the application online first. After filling up the online OCI application you have to submit the application form with prescribed documents and fees to the designated VFS Centre. The time taken for issue of OCI card is minimum 4-6 weeks.

What are the documents needed?

Documents that are required to apply for an OCI are: current passport, Indian passport surrender certificate, nationality certificate, birth certificate, employment letter, photos 50x50.
