Rajasthan is surrounded by the oldest mountain range in India – the Aravalis. Jaipur, or the pink city, is the state’s capital and has palaces and forts set in quiet scenic surroundings. Camel rides, bonfire folklore, and vibrant festivities colour a Rajasthan holiday.

Udaipur is the City of Lakes, often called the Venice of the East. Named as the best city in the world in 2009 by Travel & Leisure, Lake Pichola, Fateh Sagar Lake, Udai Sagar and many others provide an idyllic location to this wonderful city. Bikaner, Ajmer, Jodhpur, Jaisalmer, and many other cities are uniquely Rajasthan. The ocean of sand dunes also gives testimony to the various war and peace it has gone through.

On a Rajasthan tour, visit the Light and Sound Shows of the palaces and forts, the local state-run emporiums, and the museums to get the feel of it. India is a land of celebrations and Rajasthan is no different. If you happen to be holidaying around those times, make sure you witness it for its pomp and show and simple fun. Temples are a way of life in Rajasthan and these delicately adorned structures are a place of calm and prayers. Rajasthan culture, unique customs, and religious fervour are best displayed at such temples.

Rajasthan is famous for its art and craft and they make fantastic souvenirs too. Shilpgram is the craft village, famous for its annual craft fair where various artists showcase their talent. Blue pottery, metal lamps, woodcraft, leather wear and marble showpieces are some of the most exquisite pieces of artistry that you can find here.

Ranthambore National Park is home to varied wildlife and offers the thrill of seeing them in their natural habitat. Elephant safaris are the most popular medium for exploring them. It is a joy ride in itself and at any time, you might see a deer springing out of the long grasses. If you are lucky, you may find yourself in the royal presence of the yellow-striped cats – Tigers.

Luxury tents are a great way to have modern luxuries in the middle of a jungle. The Desert National Park of Jaisalmer is a fine example of the diverse flora and fauna of the Thar Desert. Spotted eagles, falcons, Desert foxes, migratory and resident birds, and many other species grace the national park.

Choosing Rajasthan as your holiday destination is an excellent choice. There is a perfect blend of culture, heritage and geo-socio-ecosystem to enjoy this incredibly blessed land in its whole grandeur.
