I want to travel to Canada

I am looking to travel to Canada, what are the entry rules?

Hi Sarabjit, the Canadian authorities are barring entry to Canada, including at its border with the USA to most foreign nationals. However, some exemptions are in place.

What are the exemptions?

Some foreign workers, students, Canadian citizens and permanent residents or their immediate and extended family, provided they remain in Canada for 15 days or more, are allowed to enter.

My parents live there so can I travel? What will I need? I have British passport.

To board your flight to Canada you must have a valid travel document (electronic travel authorization, ETA), present proof to show that you are an immediate family member of a Canadian citizen.

What proof can I show?

You must have 2 types of documents: one that shows your immediate family member's status as a Canadian citizen and one that shows your relationship to that family member.

Can you give some examples?

Documents to show your family member's status include: a Canadian passport, a Canadian permanent resident card or travel document, proof of Canadian citizenship. An example of document that shows your relationship to them is birth certificate.
